Amayeta saves us from SoThink flash AS3 decompiler!
For a long time, I really wanted to learn flash and develop unique code and graphics to use in games, banners and other cool widgets, but one question always weighed in my mind! Could some one actually take my adobe protected .swf file and turn it back into readable code ? Well sadly the answer is yes they can! There are products out there like this one (http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler/), that will bypass the adobe protection and output all the artwork, sound, and action script that you have created! This means if you created a online game, they now hold all the source code to modify at will and call it their own. If you really wanted people to have the source code you would have posted it on your site for everyone to download right ? Well some people call it having the right to learn from others, well I think that’s ok on examples that I would have posted to teach people, but currently I am not in the field of teaching, I am in the field of learning and trying to make a few bucks from my work!
I naturally want to protect my work as a web freelancer. Why ? Because it’s my work! I am the one who created it, I am the one who breathed life into it, and if wanted you to have a source code copy of my work, I would have gave it to you! I am sure that I am not the only one on planet earth who thinks like this. Until very recently you did not really have a choice in the matter. Products like SoThink would just hand over your work to anyone who spent the money to buy their product. Even today I think their has to some illegal loopholes here.
Thank goodness their are people who think like me out there, and I finally know that’s I am not alone! I know because companies like Amayeta (http://www.amayeta.com/) are working hard to help me protect my work! Amayeta has a product called SWF Encryptâ„¢ 5.0 that will protect my work from “ActionScript Decompilers and SWF Hackers” If your looking to stop people from stealing your action script from your so called adobe protect .swf files then I suggest that you visit Amayeta’s website.
Unfortunately Amayeta’s software will only protect your action script code, it does not protect images, sound or anything else. But normally the Action Script is the key target you want to protect anyway, it’s where you spent most of your time and effort. It’s kinda hard to modify images and sound anyway so I would just place copy write on your website and if you see or hear your original work then you probably got a good case to sue.
Now if your actually wanting to learn flash and your using SoThink’s Products, I have no love for you here, but I do have a few resources where you can learn about flash instead of stealing it from other websites that you like, I know it’s not as easy but you will actually learn more in the long run!
